Job summary

Atrium Health in North Carolina is seeking a Practical Nurse (LPN) to support exam rooms and patient care. You will obtain vital signs, document health information, perform basic lab procedures and assist physicians with procedures.

The role requires completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program and an active LPN license; BLS is required within 45 days unless exempt. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and follow safety guidelines in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved Practical Nursing program.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state where practicing.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification obtained within 45 days unless exempt.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and room the patient for exam; obtain vital signs and document health information.
• Perform basic laboratory procedures (strep test, wound culture, specimen collection) with aseptic technique.
• Assist physicians with procedures and surgeries (pelvic exams, scratch testing, EMG, colposcopy).
• Administer medications under orders; initiate/maintain IV therapy within limits; supply selected fluids.
• Provide patient education on treatments and self-care; relay questions to RNs/physicians as appropriate.
• Communicate with healthcare team; document accurate patient information.
• Perform advanced clinical tasks under supervision (wound care, catheterization, EKG, spirometry, etc.).
• Organize exam rooms and labs; stock and maintain equipment; assist with patient transport.
