Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State and/or Connecticut.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Administers general nursing care to ambulatory patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Participates with the Primary Nurse and Nursing Care Coordinator in planning and coordinating patient care.
• Follows the direction of the Primary Nurse in implementing the nursing process.
• Reports and records results of nursing care and communicates significant information to the Primary Nurse or Nursing Care Coordinator.
• Performs treatments and procedures as assigned by a Registered Nurse.
• Establishes good interpersonal relations with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
• Administers medications (oral, subcutaneous, IM) as permitted; narcotics as allowed.
• Performs related duties as required.
