Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to support patient care within a clinical setting in North Carolina. The role requires adhering to scope of practice, performing vitals, history taking, screenings, and assisting with procedures under supervision.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, lab specimen handling, CLIA-waived testing, and administering medications or vaccines per protocols. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or military training (DD214) in lieu of a formal MA program.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Two years of experience in a clinical practice as a Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to MA scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vitals, med reconciliation, history, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures or performs as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen collection, POCT and waived labs per CLIA.
• Administers medications and vaccines per rights of administration.
• Handles patient messaging, referrals, scheduling and authorizations.
• Maintains clean, stocked work environment and escalates as needed.
• May assist with training onboarding of teammates.
• Must demonstrate age-appropriate care and growth/development awareness.
