Job summary

Wesley Woods Senior Living in Newnan, GA seeks an experienced LPN to coordinate and oversee quality nursing care for senior residents. The role includes medication administration, assisting with admissions and discharges, and leading care teams.

Under supervision, you will support the Director of Nursing, develop care plans, ensure proper documentation, and uphold infection-control practices while delivering compassionate, person-centered care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
  • Two years experience as LPN. Currently certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
  • Near visual acuity needed to work with charts. Hearing and speech essential to communicate with patients and residents.
  • The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English. Experience in a retirement community preferred. Current CPR and/or First Aid will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assessing residents’ physical, emotional, and clinical needs.
  • Observe residents and promptly report changes in condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with developing individualized nursing care plans.
  • Provide support with activities of daily living and therapeutic care.
  • Evaluate and document residents’ responses to care and treatment.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term care goals, resident and family education, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and timely nursing documentation.
  • Safely and accurately administer medications according to the five rights of medication administration.
  • Monitor residents for medication effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions.
  • Follow all Department of Nursing policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Support physical examinations and diagnostic procedures as assigned.
  • Collect specimens and ensure they are properly labeled and processed.
  • Administer assigned treatments, including dressing changes, irrigations, enemas, rectal tubes, and postural drainage.
  • Assist residents with meals, nutritional supplements, and tube feedings.
  • Apply appropriate infection-control and isolation procedures.
  • Initiate CPR and assist with emergency response procedures and emergency-cart use.
  • Provide respectful postmortem care when necessary.
  • Assist with reviewing, revising, and updating nursing care and treatment plans.
  • Participate in resident care meetings and interdisciplinary team conferences.
  • Help evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and recommend changes based on residents’ needs and responses.
  • Assist other members of the healthcare team as requested.
  • Participate in the on-the-job training and development of personnel.
  • Educate residents and families while reinforcing established care and treatment plans.
  • Promote clear communication and cooperation among residents, families, and members of the care team.
  • Assist with establishing priorities for resident care.
  • Assign and coordinate work for Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Serve as the charge nurse in the absence of the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing, providing general oversight and supervision to assigned departmental staff.
  • Assist nursing leadership with departmental staffing and scheduling needs.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and compassionate environment for residents, visitors, and employees.
  • Participate in quality-assurance activities, committees, and other initiatives designed to improve resident care.
  • Take an active role in professional growth and self-improvement.
  • Complete at least six hours of required in-service training and continuing education.
  • Attend at least 75% of scheduled staff meetings.
