Job summary

Pioneer Home – Fairbanks is seeking a Food Service Worker to join our kitchen and dining team. The role encompasses cleaning, food preparation, stocking and serving in a busy environment under a collective bargaining agreement.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, and English proficiency. Preference given for at least six months in food service and a Food Handlers/Card or ServSafe within 30 days. Union dues are a condition of employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preference will be given to candidates with at least six (6) months experience in the food service industry.
• Must have Food Handlers Card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire.
• Must have some knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
• This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between NMS and Laborers’ Local 942 and membership in the union, including deduction of union dues, is a required term of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with general information and inquiries.
• Obtains products requested by residents.
• Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Prepares various food products following standard food handling procedures.
• Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and stores them orderly.
• Maintains products at proper levels in preparation, serving or storage areas.
• Stocks storage areas with products.
• Cleans dining, kitchen, and storage areas and equipment.
• Supports an effective Safety Program.
• Removes garbage and assists with setting up or breaking down tables and serving lines.
• Participates in large cleaning projects as scheduled.
• Assists cooks and coordinates activities with others.
• Occasionally prepares foods or cooks vegetables and entrees.
