Job summary

Senior Helpers of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking compassionate in-home caregivers to support seniors and individuals in their own homes across West Grand Rapids, Wyoming and surrounding communities. This role offers part-time and full-time weekend and mid-week options with flexible scheduling and one-on-one client care in the client’s home.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Valid driver's license with no serious driving violations
• Reliable transportation available during assignments
• Ability to read, write, and speak English at an average adult level
• Ability to successfully complete required training and skills assessments
• Ability to complete all required health screenings
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening prior to employment
• Proof of First Aid and CPR certification within 3 months of employment
• One or more years of caregiving, home care, healthcare, or related experience
• CNA certification, nursing education, healthcare coursework, or similar experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene
• Assistance with eating and daily living activities
• Ambulation, mobility assistance, and walking support
• Assisting clients to and from bed
• Monitoring and supporting clients living with Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia
• Light housekeeping
• Laundry and linen changes
• Meal planning and meal preparation
• Household organization and management
• Apparel selection and dressing assistance
• Meaningful conversation and companionship
• Emotional support and encouragement
• Promoting engagement, independence, and quality of life
• Transportation using the client's vehicle
• Running errands and accompanying clients to appointments
• Medication reminders in accordance with company policies
• Preparing sleeping areas for overnight, sleepover and live-in assignments
• Assisting clients during the night as needed
• Reporting frequent overnight care needs to the office
• Documenting services and activities in company software systems
• Maintaining timekeeping and service documentation
• Submitting records by deadlines
• Reporting significant client changes to the office
