Job summary

Hospice of North Alabama in Huntsville, AL is seeking a compassionate Hospice CNA to join our caring team. You will provide one-to-one patient care, assist with daily living activities, monitor comfort and safety, support families during a critical time in their lives, and help maintain a calm and dignified environment for patients at home or in care settings.

The role emphasizes teamwork within a supportive, mission-driven culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months experience including providing personal care
• Complete a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training, 16 of which are classroom hours prior to practical training
• Must be 18+ years of age
• Possess and maintain current CPR certification
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
• Understands hospice philosophy and comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill
• Ability to work with little direct supervision
• Ability to handle death/dying
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, repositioning)
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition
• Assist with mobility, transfers, ROM exercises, and safe equipment use
• Assist with medication administration per state regulations
• Offer companionship and comfort to patients and families
• Light housekeeping and meal assistance
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Collaborate with hospice interdisciplinary team
