Job summary

Empyrean Hospice is seeking dedicated Hospice Aides to work under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will provide essential personal care to patients and be part of the interdisciplinary care team, promoting comfort and safety in home-based settings.

The role requires compassion, reliability, and strong communication, along with meeting state training requirements and CPR certification. We offer a supportive environment with professional growth opportunities and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Professionalism, compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others.
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision, yet also as a member of a complete care team.
• Understands the philosophy of hospice and is comfortable with issues of death/dying.
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
• Satisfactory references from previous employers.
• Maintains current CPR certification.
• Able to lift, position and/or transfer patients, and lift supplies and equipment.
• Meets the training requirements of the State.
• Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training; 16 hours classroom before 16 hours practical training.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Must be a licensed driver with a valid insured automobile.

Responsibilities

• Represent Empyrean Hospice with professionalism and compassion.
• Serve as a member of the patient's clinical care team.
• Promote quality, continuity, and safety in all aspects of the patient's care.
• Perform personal care tasks such as baths, oral hygiene, dressing, feeding assistance, ambulation, transfers, linen changes, and light laundry.
• Observe and report patient conditions and document care performed.
• Provide confidential, respectful communication within the home.
• Take vitals when ordered and demonstrate competency.
• Adhere to documentation and care procedures and professional conduct.
