Job summary
Oakland Hospice LLC is seeking a compassionate Hospice Aide to provide essential personal care to terminally ill patients under the direction of a registered nurse. The role emphasizes patient comfort, dignity, and family support in the home setting.
Educational requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and Michigan Nurse Registry certification; federal Home Health Aide training; minimum 1 year experience preferred. Compliance with TB tests and vaccinations is required.
Qualifications
- Must meet federal Home Health Aide training and competency requirements.
- Ability to work independently and make judgments based on assessments.
- Minimum 1 year nursing assistant experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide essential personal care to patient under RN supervision.
- Complete shower, bed bath or partial bath as directed by RN.
- Maintain clean work area and prevent cross infection.
- Provide mouth care, skin, hair and nail care.
- Toileting during visit using commode or bedpan.
- Assist with safe bed transfers and ambulation as ordered.
- Review care plan before visits and chart after visits.
- Maintain competency and complete required in-service training.
- Report changes in patient condition to RN.
