Job summary

Gentiva is seeking a Hospice Aide/CNA to provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients at home, in assisted living, or inpatient units. The role emphasizes dignity, comfort, and emotional support for patients and families.

Required are an active CNA license, CPR certification, a valid driver’s license with reliable vehicle, and at least 6 months of direct patient care experience. Safe, compassionate care is the core focus.

Qualifications

• Active CNA license in the state of employment (Required)
• Current CPR certification (Required)
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance (Required)
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience (Required)
• Comfortable working in home/hospice/long-term care settings
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility, including walkers and wheelchairs
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping
• Observe and report changes in patient’s condition
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families
• Maintain accurate documentation of visits
• Attend team meetings and participate in Quality Improvement activities
• Practice infection control and follow safety protocols
