Qualifications

• Meets the state\'s training requirements for HCA.
• Proof of Home Care Aide Registry registration preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Comfort with hospice philosophy and terminal illness care.
• Satisfactory references from previous employers.
• Self-directed with little supervision; handles death/dying calmly.
• Empathy for the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.

Responsibilities

• Perform personal care tasks as assigned promptly.
• Ensure safety with equipment like foot stools and rails.
• Provide baths, oral hygiene, shampoos, and linen changes.
• Assist in dressing, feeding and meals.
• Take and record vital signs when ordered.
• Monitor skin for breakdown and report changes.
• Report changes to Case Manager.
• Assist in ambulation and exercises as instructed.
• Provide respite for patient/family when on-site.
• Keep living area clean and orderly.
• Adhere to documentation and care procedures.
• Participate in quality improvement teams.
