Assisting Hands Home Care - Merrillville is seeking dependable caregivers to provide non-medical, one-on-one care to clients in Valparaiso, IN and nearby communities.

We offer flexible scheduling and support from a local office team, with training and ongoing caregiver development. The role involves helping clients at home with personal care, companionship, light housekeeping, and meals while following care plans and agency policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least two years of paid caregiving experience in a home care setting or similar role.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.
• Current CPR certification and TB test required before a client assignment.
• Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and documentation.
• Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a compassionate, professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and other personal care needs
• Support safe walking and transfers according to the care plan and training
• Assist clients with walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment
• Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement
• Prepare meals and help with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization
• Offer medication reminders; this role does not include medication administration
• Observe and report changes in client condition, appearance, or behavior
• Use mobile app to clock in/out, communicate with the office, and document care
• Follow infection prevention practices, safety procedures, and agency policies
• Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and professional conduct
