Assisting Hands Home Care - Merrillville is seeking dependable caregivers to provide non-medical, one-on-one care to clients in Valparaiso, IN and nearby communities.

This hourly, non-exempt position offers flexible scheduling and meaningful in-home support, with opportunities to work in Valparaiso and surrounding areas. You will assist with daily living activities and provide companionship while maintaining safety and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least two years of paid caregiving experience in home care.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with proof of auto insurance.
• CPR certification and TB test required before a client assignment.
• Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling and documentation.
• Dependable attendance and clear, compassionate communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and other personal care needs.
• Support safe walking and transfers per care plan and training.
• Assist clients with mobility equipment like walkers and wheelchairs.
• Provide companionship and social engagement.
• Prepare meals and help with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization.
• Offer medication reminders; no medication administration.
• Observe and report changes in client condition or behavior.
• Use the mobile app to clock in/out and document care.
• Follow infection prevention practices and agency policies.
• Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
