Job summary

SCI in South Gate, CA is seeking a part-time Funeral Services Assistant to support operations, transportation, room setup, and visitor greeting. You will help prepare caskets, arrange merchandise, and ensure respectful handling of the deceased.

This role requires compassion, solid communication, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; evenings and weekends work is expected. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid state issued driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• No prior work experience required; funeral industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare deceased for visitation and funeral services, dressing and arranging clothing/jewelry and transporting as needed.
• Set up rooms for services, arrange chairs, tables, flowers, guest books, and keepsakes.
• Greet visitors, provide programs, share information about services.
• May serve as pallbearer or drive families to cemetery sites.
• Assist with mail and memorial materials; handle light office tasks.
