Job summary

Sci Corp is seeking a Funeral Assistant in Fremont, CA to support funeral and memorial ceremonies with compassion and precision. You will assist families, coordinate rites, and ensure smooth service delivery in accordance with company policies.

This role requires a High School diploma, at least 3 years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license. You will work closely with licensed staff to arrange transportation, prepare documents, and provide aftercare support.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years related experience as a Funeral Assistant.
• Current driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Basic knowledge of religious and fraternal organizations customs.
• Knowledge of computers and MS Office Suite required.

Responsibilities

• Arranges, conducts and directs bereavement rites, including funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized and caring manner.
• Confirms authorization to proceed with the service arrangements.
• Informs families of special recognition/services available for veterans and ensures the delivery of selected recognition/services.
• Assists with funeral services by coordinating parking, ushering, driving funeral vehicles, and assisting at chapel, church, cemetery and related tasks.
• Provides aftercare including delivery of documentation, stationery, information on insurance/health benefits and pension, and pre-arrangements for next of kin.
• Ensures potential pre-need referrals are shared with Family Service Counselors.
• Ensures adherence to licensing authorities and regulations.
• Prepares and completes documents and online entries related to services, cremations, maintenance.
• Assists with general office duties including answering phones and preparing reports.
• Assists with maintenance of vehicles, facility and property.
• Receives caskets and other funeral home supplies and places into inventory.
• Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law.
