Job summary

Envida in Calhan, Colorado seeks a Fixed Route Transit Driver to transport clients, including those in wheelchairs, on a scheduled route while maintaining safety and punctuality. The role requires adherence to schedules, safety training, and daily communication with dispatch.

Responsibilities include pre/post inspections, record-keeping, fare collection, and assisting passengers. The position emphasizes courteous service and compliance with regulations; hours are 2 ten-hour days Tue & Fri

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years old or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license with clean MV record.
• Able to pass a background check and drug test.
• Capacity to work with people in wheelchairs from home to destination, up to three steps.
• Strong problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Able to review, complete, and submit paperwork electronically.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and punctual transportation and assistance to the public, including people with disabilities and older adults.
• Communicate daily with dispatch regarding schedule deviations or concerns.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.
• Maintain up-to-date driving paperwork and related records.
• Collect and secure passenger donations and deliver to the main office.
• Coordinate with supervisor, other drivers, and office staff about deviations or concerns.
• Attend periodic safety training meetings.
• Make frequent stops as requested by passengers.
• Collect fares and issue change.
• Answer questions about schedules, routes, and transfer points.
• Report accidents or traffic disruptions to the dispatcher; follow alternate routes as directed.
• Assist disabled passengers.
• Inspect tires, lights, oil; perform basic maintenance.
• Follow state and federal transit regulations; keep passengers informed of delays.
