Job summary

Walk of Life Residential Care Inc. in California seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to support adults with intellectual, developmental, or cognitive disabilities in daily living activities.

You will follow program plans, assist with bathing, grooming, meals, mobility, and documentation, and help residents develop independence and community engagement. Qualifications include valid CA driver’s license/ID, CPR/First Aid, 1 year caregiving experience, and ability to lift 30 lbs;

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old with valid California driver's license or CA ID.
• Background checks, fingerprinting, TB screening, in-house training, and orientation.
• At least 1 year caregiving experience in an ARF or similar setting.
• High school diploma or GED.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire date).
• Certified DSP 1 or DSP 2 certification preferred; DSP 1 within 12 months.
• Experience with behaviors a plus; CPI certification is a plus.
• Able to lift 30lbs and move up to 100lbs.

Responsibilities

• Model positive interactions and encourage constructive behavior.
• Familiarize with each resident's program plan.
• Understand behavior modification techniques and apply them correctly.
• Assist individuals with mobility exercises and self-help skills.
• Document incidents and maintain progress notes and data.
• Support individuals in daily living skills and money management.
• Plan and facilitate recreational and community activities.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, meals, and personal hygiene.
• Assist in medication administration and documentation.
• Ensure safe transfers in/out of beds or wheelchairs.
• Enter daily activities and shift notes in QuickMar.
• Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a clean living environment.
