Job summary

North Star Oregon is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with I/DD. You will support people in homes, communities, and day settings, helping them build independence and pursue personal goals while benefiting from competitive pay and growth opportunities.

This role may begin part-time with potential to grow to full-time based on availability and service needs; overtime is optional and paid training is provided.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Background check per ODHS-approved standard.
• Not be excluded from federally funded health care programs.
• Read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals and teams.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Be physically able to perform essential functions, with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with ADLs (hygiene, dressing, mobility, meals).
• Support participation in community activities and skill-building opportunities.
• Promote dignity, privacy, independence, and self-determination.
• Assist with medication support and documentation per policies.
• Complete required electronic documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment following policies and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with individuals, families, guardians, coworkers, and case managers.
