Job summary

Argon Agency is seeking a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join its detox and residential treatment team. The BHT provides direct patient care, supports stabilization, and helps implement daily routines and therapeutic activities for individuals in early recovery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor patients to ensure safety and program adherence.
• Conduct checks and document per state, Joint Commission or CARF standards.
• Support detox and early residential phases, ensuring emotional and physical safety.
• Assist with intake, orientation and discharge procedures with documentation.
• Document patient behavior, incidents, and progress notes in EHR.
• Monitor vital signs and report concerns to nursing/clinical staff.
• Facilitate educational, recreational, and therapeutic group activities.
• Accompany patients to appointments and transitions as needed.
• Support medication adherence and observation where applicable.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of common spaces per housekeeping standards.
• De-escalate situations with verbal intervention and trauma-informed care.
• Communicate effectively with team about patient needs and behavior.
