Job summary

Haven Behavioral Healthcare, an Oceans Healthcare Company, seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to support nursing staff and maintain a therapeutic milieu. You will perform patient care tasks, monitor safety, and document observations in line with policies and regulations.

Strong communication, teamwork, and willingness to complete BLS and de-escalation training are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and follow verbal and written instruction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work well with diverse populations.
• Able to apply age, disability and cultural-specific knowledge.
• Must be in good physical and mental health with integrity.
• Must work under close supervision.
• Must complete BLS and Oceans-approved de-escalation program.

Responsibilities

• Continually monitors and supports unit rules compliance.
• Uses de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventory of patient belongings and safety checks.
• Follow infection control policies and attend required in-services.
• Perform patient care tasks under supervision; document vitals, weights, nutrition.
• Assist with meals, laundry, mobility, and daily activities.
• Tailor care to age/cultural needs; ensure dignity and respect.
• Document patient observations and communicate with nursing staff.
• Update staff on task progress and patient needs.
