Job summary

Meadowlark in Sparta, MI is hiring a part-time Cook to prepare nutritious meals following menus and dietary guidelines. The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and high-quality service within the dining team.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, ability to lift up to 35 pounds, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Shift is Tue/Wed/Fri plus every other weekend, 32 hours weekly, 10:00am-6:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines.
• Accommodate special dietary needs and preferences while ensuring excellent food quality and presentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment that meets all food safety standards.
• Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, mixers, and slicers.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and portion control procedures.
• Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and minimizing food waste.
• Work collaboratively with Dining Services team members to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
• Help create a positive dining experience for residents, guests, and staff.
• Support special events, holiday meals, and other culinary initiatives as needed.
• Maintain required certifications and comply with all federal, state, local, and organizational regulations.
• Participate in training, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the Dining Services department.
