Job summary

Avalon Health & Rehab in Newnan, GA is seeking a full-time kitchen aide/cook to prepare meals for residents under dietician plans. You will operate kitchen equipment, follow menus, and ensure meals meet therapeutic diets and portion controls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read menus and follow standardized recipes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares various foods depending on menu created by dieticians for each meal of the day.
• Operates various kitchen equipment in preparation for the meal, e.g., mixer, meat slicer, food processor, oven, steamer.
• Cleans work surfaces following shift; sweeps floors and stores unused foods.
• Creates meals appropriate for the elderly and in large quantities using institutional-sized cookware.
• Works at a constant pace to ensure meals are ready for each meal of the day.
• Complies with infection control policies in work area.
• Keeps equipment clean at all times.
• Reports any needed repairs to maintenance department.
• Reads and understands menus.
• Prepares meals in accordance with the menu and follow standardized recipes.
• Monitors/serves meals with appropriate portion controls.
