Job summary

Catholic Health Services of Long Island is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide resident care under nursing supervision. You will assist with admissions, daily living activities, feeding, transports, and timely responses to alarms in a long-term care setting.

The role requires NYS CNA certification, a completed CNA program (BOCES or 100-hour approved), and a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience and knowledge of safety and infection control are a plus.

Qualifications

• Nursing Assistant Certification in Long Term Care in New York State; completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Program at BOCES, Completion of 100 hour Certified Nursing Assistant Approved Program.
• Valid and current certificate from NY State.
• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of safety and infection control policies; computer systems experience; ability to interpret medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission of residents, re: reception, preparation, and data collection.
• Functions as a team member in administering direct resident care and attention to personal hygiene, safety, comfort, skin care and needs.
• Prepares residents for meals, assists with feeding; distributes fluids and nourishment/snacks.
• Assists with transport of residents between areas of the facility and at discharge.
• Collects and transports specimens in a timely manner.
• Responds to call bells/alarms promptly and ensures alarms are functioning per plan of care.
• Communicates changes in resident condition to the nurse.
• Records intake/output, vitals, nutrition, ADL care and related notes per facility policy.
• Assists in preparing residents for examination and treatment; supports diagnostic tests.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment for residents and staff.
