Job summary

Horizon Center San Diego is hiring a Caregiver/Support Staff to assist residents with daily living activities, mobility, medications, and health monitoring at our San Diego, CA facility. The role emphasizes compassion, teamwork, and engagement in meaningful social activities to support the underserved community.

Experience is a plus; training in Harm Reduction, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience as caregiver or support staff is a plus.
• Incorporating Harm Reduction, Informed Trauma Training and De-escalation techniques.
• Prior involvement in caregiving or support roles, ideally within environments such as homeless shelters or comparable settings.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication abilities, coupled with a compassionate and non-judgmental demeanor.
• Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals from diverse backgrounds, including the underserved individuals.
• Capacity to effectively collaborate within a team dynamic and navigate challenging scenarios with sensitivity and tact.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Provide assistance with mobility, transfers, and positioning to ensure residents' safety and comfort.
• Administer medications and assist with medication management under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
• Monitor residents' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interactions to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
• Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents, including resident rooms, common areas, and dining areas.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and supportive atmosphere.
