Job summary

UKCIL Ltd. in Durham is seeking a reliable and compassionate Care Assistant to support a blind man and his visually impaired wife at home. You will assist with appointments, shopping, post, light household duties and accompany social visits.

A clean UK driving licence is essential as you may drive a Motability car. Flexible 12 hours per week at £13 per hour, with a DBS check carried out by the employer.

Qualifications

• A clean UK driving licence is essential.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear verbal guidance.
• A patient and caring nature, with a respectful and supportive approach.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.
• Experience supporting individuals with visual impairments is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical support to enable independent living.
• Assist with travel to appointments, shopping, and social visits.
• Read and organise post as required.
• Offer support with minor house maintenance tasks.
• Drive the individual’s Motability vehicle when necessary.
• Communicate clearly and effectively to facilitate daily activities.
