Job summary

Mercy Health’s Lourdes Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide direct patient care under supervision. The role supports vital signs, hygiene, mobility, and unit-based duties while coordinating with nursing staff to report changes.

The position requires engagement in ongoing education and adherence to hospital policies. The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred, and relevant experience in mental health or health care

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a mental health or health care setting preferred.
• Licensing/certifications listed are preferred (BLS, STNA, CNA, SWA, CDCA, Counselor in Training, HS-BCP, AAPT).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under supervision according to policies and guidelines.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and share information.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely.
• Completes patient rounding, 15‑minute checks, and safety companion services as assigned.
• Collects patient data and completes patient screenings.
• Participates in continued education and in-service training.
