Job summary

The Arc of Southwest Georgia Kid’s Corner Child Development Center in Albany, GA is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support educators in delivering an enriching, inclusive learning environment. This role focuses on developing self-esteem, social interaction, and communication skills while following state guidelines and performing routine classroom duties.

Responsibilities include lesson preparation, aiding plan implementation, maintaining safety and cleanliness, and communicating with families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 90 hours college credit or 2 years of technical college credits.
• At least 1 year of experience working directly with individuals with disabilities.
• Must have a valid Class 1 Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing materials for lessons.
• Assist teacher during lesson plan implementation.
• Provide supportive environment for children to learn and practice appropriate behaviors.
• Maintain classroom regulations per state guidelines.
• Perform housekeeping duties and sanitizing as required.
• Follow closing checklist duties and communicate with parents/guardians.
• Adapt to classroom routines and participate in staff development as needed.
