Job summary

Humane Society Pikes Peak Region is seeking an Animal Care Technician to provide daily care for shelter pets, maintain clean enclosures, feed animals per dietary instructions, and assist with humane euthanasia when required. You will work with staff and volunteers to ensure compassionate, safe handling and high-quality care in our Pueblo shelter system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in animal shelter, boarding kennel, zookeeping or veterinary clinic preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Care for daily needs of shelter animals, including feeding and sanitation.
• Maintain animal enclosures and records; assist with adoption processes.
• Assist with humane euthanasia as needed and with handling animals safely.
• Interact professionally with the public and volunteers; support inventory.
• Follow safety protocols and handle animals with compassion.
