Job summary

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is seeking an Animal Care Technician I to oversee daily care for dogs and cats, assist in adoption processes, and train volunteers. You will participate in playgroups, provide enrichment, and record behavior notes while ensuring a safe, clean environment.

Excellent customer service and teamwork are essential. The role requires compassionate animal care, effective communication with staff, and ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and interpret routine reports, correspondence, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills; comprehension abilities including the ability to apply, understand and carry out instructions.
• Ability to problem-solve and provide reasonable solutions.
• Must be well-organized, flexible, and work well under pressure.
• Ability to multitask and assist in other areas when needed.
• Ability to work well with others towards a common goal.
• Knowledge of ShelterLuv, a plus
• General knowledge of care, cleaning and keeping of domestic dogs and cats.
• Bilingual, a plus

Responsibilities

• The Animal Care Technician I will care for dogs and cats daily, assist in adoptions, train volunteers, and participate in playgroups with enrichment.
• Provide compassionate care to all animals and perform daily cleaning to prevent cross-contamination.
• Administer heartworm and flea preventatives as directed.
• Provide exercise and enrichment to animals and maintain daily census.
• Communicate health and wellbeing updates to Medical Services staff and log behavior notes.
• Bathing and grooming of animals as requested; provide excellent customer service.
• Assist with playgroups and testing dogs for social skills as directed.
