Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff, ensuring smooth patient flow and efficient care delivery in the clinic. You will assist with examinations, basic procedures, and vital signs while maintaining patient confidentiality and a friendly, professional demeanor.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, BLS/CPR, and certification options to complete CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA within six months.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required.
Must complete one of CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA within 6 months of employment.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.

Responsibilities

Assures efficient patient flow by escorting to exam room and preparing for exam.
Obtains accurate vital signs per organization standards.
Documents reason for visit and updates allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information.
Informs provider of significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms.
Prepares exam rooms and sets up equipment for visits.
Assists practitioner with ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, and CLIA-waived testing.
Maintains vaccine/medication inventory and cleans/disinfects equipment.
Maintains patient confidentiality and promotes satisfaction.
Performs delegated procedures per specialty addendum.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
