Qualifications

Job description

We are hiring per diem Companion IIs to join our dynamic care team at Athena Care at Home in the Ledyard area!

Weekly pay at $17 an hour.This on-the-road position requires the candidate to have an active driver's license and an insured vehicle. $1,000 sign-on bonus!*

This position provides supervision for safety and assistance to the client in activities of daily living to maintain the client in their home. You provide compassionate nonmedical personalcare to support clients living with physical, emotional, or cognitive impairments such as housekeeping duties, personal hygiene assistance, and more.

Education & Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

  • Must have an active and unencumbered CNA, PCA, or HHA license in the state.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, ambulation, eating/feeding,
    continence care)

  • Skin monitoring to maintain the health of the skin

  • Range of motion (ROM) and muscle strengthening exercises to maintain an optimal level of functioning

  • Turning and position of the client required by a skilled nurse

  • Medication reminders

  • Application and maintenance of prosthetics and orthotics

  • Meal planning, preparation and grocery shopping

  • Accompanying to medical appointments

  • Assisting, monitoring or prompting the client to complete the above items

  • Redirection, monitoring and observation that are integral part of a care plan in the above items

  • Redirection and intervention for behavior, including observation and monitoring

  • Appropriate reporting of changes in client status

  • Performs routine household tasks as assigned in a written or electronic care plan

  • Cleaning Areas:
    • Bathroom
    • Client’s Bedroom/Sleeping area
    • Kitchen
    • Living Area

  • Laundry/Changing bed linens

  • Dusting and vacuuming

  • Washes Dishes

  • Floor Care

  • Trash Removal

  • Takes a genuine interest in client by listening to their needs, ensuring that their environment is safe

  • Monitors and reports client’s concerns to appropriate parties, such as company supervisors, doctors, or familymembers

  • Driving clients to planned outings or events

  • Providing emotional support for clients as they heal or cope with their conditions

Specific Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service and listening skills.

  • Must have a reliable source of transportation including an insured vehicle.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate with the client, family, and
    office staff.

  • Ability to read and write English.

  • Demonstrate the ability to make appropriate professional judgments.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Able to provide covered Homemaker service according to the client’s care plan, respond appropriately to client’s needs and reports changes in the client’s condition to the supervising Manager.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Access to a working telephone for regular communication with Office/Manager, client, responsible party, and Staffing Coordinator.
