Job summary

Senior Helpers of New Haven Coast is seeking compassionate caregivers and personal care assistants to provide trusted in-home, non-medical support for seniors in East Haven and surrounding communities. You will build meaningful relationships while helping clients stay safe, independent, and comfortable in familiar surroundings.

Caregiver duties include companionship, bathing and grooming help, mobility support, meal planning, medication reminders, light housekeeping, errands, and transportation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Genuine compassion for older adults.
• Dependable, patient, respectful, and attentive.
• Effective communication with clients, families, and team members.
• Willingness to complete required training and skills assessments.
• Reliable transportation to and from assignments.
• Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance when driving is required.
• Previous caregiving or related experience preferred but not required.
• CNA, HHA, PCA or similar training welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Companionship and meaningful social interaction.
• Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Support with walking, mobility, positioning, and transfers.
• Meal planning, preparation, and assistance with eating.
• Medication reminders.
• Light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes.
• Errands and authorized transportation.
• Support for clients living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
• Observation and timely reporting of changes in a client’s condition or needs.
• Accurate documentation of services and activities.
• Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment.
• Following the client’s care plan and company policies and procedures.
