Job summary

YMCA of Silicon Valley in Mountain View, CA seeks a Part-time Group Fitness Instructor to lead energizing, safe, and inclusive classes that welcome participants of all fitness levels and abilities. You will create a positive environment, explain movements, and modify routines to meet varied health needs while building community within the class.

Essential certifications include CPR, First Aid, AED, plus a national or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise credential; Healthy Lifestyles certification

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required.
• National group fitness certification (ACE/NETA/AFAA/NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise.
• YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.
• Group Exercise at the Y (or equivalent) within 6 months of hire.
• One year of group wellness instruction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, safe, and inclusive group classes as directed by supervisor.
• Answer questions to support members in achieving health goals.
• Maintain knowledge of wellness trends to provide accurate information.
• Build authentic relationships with members and participants.
• Adjust classes to meet varied health, ability, and cultural needs.
• Celebrate participants' achievements and progress.
• Keep accurate class attendance records.
• Follow YMCA policies; respond to emergencies.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
