Job summary

Seven Counties in Louisville, KY is seeking a Direct Support Professional to teach, model, and coach activities of daily living for individuals with mental health needs, monitor progress, and provide compassionate support.

You will deliver psychoeducation on recovery, plan community-based activities, assist with transportation and personal care, supervise medications as required, and collaborate with families and local service providers to promote independence and safety.

Qualifications

• One year full-time experience in mental health or co-occurring disorders.
• Independent functioning as a direct support professional.
• Ability to care for individuals with disabilities including medically fragile.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate with verbal and nonverbal individuals.
• Patience, empathy, maturity and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Teach, model, and coach ADL activities and monitor performance.
• Provide psychoeducation on recovery and medications.
• Plan and facilitate community-based activities and access to resources.
• Maintain a safe environment with de-escalation and behavior management.
• Serve as ambassador of SCS, educating the community about services.
• Collaborate with schools, landlords, families, transportation providers, and employers.
• Provide transportation and ensure safety practices.
• Provide personal care as needed.
• Administer First Aid/CPR when needed.
• Supervise self-administered medication as SSAM or per program protocols.
