Job summary

The Arthur J. Glatfelter YMCA in York is seeking a Community Health Instructor to lead wellness programs and support chronic disease prevention in the community. You’ll motivate participants to build healthier habits in a supportive environment and help create lasting lifestyle changes.

This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and collaboration with local partners to strengthen community health and well-being through engaging activities and evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

• Age 18 or older.
• 1 year experience coaching similar swim teams.
• Certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid, Lifeguarding and/or Coaches Safety Certification.
• USA and YMCA coach certification within 1 month of hire.
• Background clearances including state police, child abuse and FBI fingerprinting.
• Complete required trainings within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develops, promotes, and manages swimming programs in line with USA Swimming and YMCA standards.
• Supervises on-site facilities and equipment for safety and cleanliness.
• Maintains department records and swimmer files.
• Provides supervision and supports learning to ensure a positive environment.
• Attends meets and assists with setup/cleanup at home meets.
• Pursues educational opportunities through relevant associations.
