Job summary

HCA - Helping Celebrate Abilities is seeking a part-time caregiver to provide compassionate care for individuals with developmental disabilities. You willEducation and assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and support social development within a person-centered framework.

Under supervision, you will also reinforce infection control, maintain records, and communicate openly with caregivers and management.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in relevant field and at least 1 year experience.
• High School Diploma and at least 2 years experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs/teaches and reinforces infection control and assists in toileting.
• Assist in keeping individuals clean.
• Administers individuals first aid treatments.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.
• Meet emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each individual.
• Ensure a person-centered approach in all service delivery.
• Ensure goals reflected in an individual’s plan are addressed and worked on with the individual.
• Assist individuals in performing activities of daily living with as much independence as possible.
• Assist in developing social skills by providing education, training, and role modeling.
• Act as advocate for consumers; encourage self-advocacy and choices.
• Prepare and maintain records of individual’s progress and services performed; report changes to manager.
• Ensure safety and well-being of consumers at all times.
• Maintain open communication with caregivers and management regarding issues.

Brief Description

Position Overview: Under direct supervision, HCA seeks a part-time 20-hour compassionate and dedicated worker to help care for the developmentally disabled. Provide education, instruction, direct services, and supports to empower and enable individuals to achieve their stated goals and to live as optimally as possible. Facilitate community inclusion, integration and relationship building.

Personal Care

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs/teaches and reinforces accepted infection control assists in toileting.
• Assist in keeping individual clean
• Administers individuals first aid treatments.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Associates Degree in relevant field and a minimum of 1 year experience.
• High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years experience.

Qualifications And Knowledge

• Must maintain all required training and certifications CPR and First Aide certifications.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Good verbal, written, interpersonal, organization and active listening skills.
• Good organizational & time management skills.
• Ability to multi-task. Good collaboration skills.
• Problem solving skills.
