Job summary

YAI in New York seeks a DSP 1 to support individuals with I/DD following individualized service plans and behavior support plans, upholding personal rights and promoting social connections. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care in a supportive environment.

You will document progress, assist with ADLs, ensure medication administration, participate in crisis de-escalation, and contribute to ongoing training while maintaining safety and dignity for all

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a DSP 1 in a YAI program.
• Must hold foundational certifications: SCIP-R, CPR, AMAP for residential or Day Services; maintain as required.
• Must meet essential physical demands including lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for billing and cross-team coordination.
• Willingness to work beyond scheduled hours during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assist with ADLs.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Develop and teach skills and supports.
• Participate in life plan and behavior support plan implementation.
• Document progress notes and maintain required paperwork.
