Community Support Specialist – Adult Services (Columbia, Missouri)
Burrell Behavioral Health is looking for a Community Support Specialist to provide individualized care and support to adults in our community. This full‑time, weekday position offers a base rate of $22 per hour, up to $12,000 in annual collaborative service goal bonuses, and comprehensive Burrell benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver life‑changing mental health services to clients in their homes, clinics, and community settings.
- Use motivational interviewing, operant conditioning, and cognitive processing techniques to help clients achieve treatment goals.
- Collaborate with supervisory staff to manage a manageable caseload.
- Participate in staffing sessions to identify client needs, set goals, and develop individualized plans.
- Respond to emergencies with sound judgment and provide rapid assistance within scope of training.
- Maintain continuity of care through follow‑ups, outreach, and missing appointment outreach.
- Accurately document all interactions, including attempted or unsuccessful contact.
- Actively engage in staff development activities such as meetings, trainings, and workshops.
Required Qualifications

Education and Experience
Education, certification, or experience may qualify. Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, Family Studies, Counseling, Recreational Therapy, Human Services, Human Development, Child Development, Gerontology, Behavioral Science, or Rehabilitation Counseling.
- Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support from an approved institution.
- Work experience in a related human services field (e.g., case management, residential support, developmental support, vocational rehabilitation).
- Four years of qualifying experience or a combination of education and experience equivalent to four years.
- Qualified Addictions Professional credentials such as QAP, CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCJP, RADC‑P, RADC, CCDP, or CCDP‑D.
