Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources in Bay St. Louis, MS is seeking a dedicated Community Support Specialist to assist adults, children, and youth with serious mental illness in Hancock County. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in behavioral healthcare, reliable transportation, and the ability to obtain DMH case management certification within 90 days.

Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, no on-call duties. You will help clients access medical, housing, transportation, and other essential services

Responsibilities

• Identifies client strengths and barriers to independence in the community.

• Trains family and caregivers in addressing client needs.
• Monitors intervention effectiveness and progress toward goals.
• Documents services in the electronic medical record.

Summary

Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is seeking an energetic and motivated Community Support Specialist to work with adults, children and youth who have a serious mental illness in Hancock County. Position is located in Bay St. Louis, MS. The Community Support Specialist position plays an important role in providing individualized support and guidance to assist with daily challenges for adults in Hancock County.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in behavioral healthcare and the ability to work independently to find resources for the consumers served.

Schedule would be Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. No on-call duties required with this position.

Requirements

• Must have auto insurance with liability limits of 100,000/300,000/50,000 within 30 days of hire
• Must be eligible to obtain DMH case management certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Experience working with SMI population preferred
• Identifies strengths which will aid in the individual in their recovery and the barriers that will challenge the development of skills necessary for independent functioning in the community.
• Provides psychoeducation on the identification and self-management of prescribed medication regimen and communicates with the prescribing provider.
• Assists the individual in accessing needed services such as medical, social, educational, transportation, housing, substance abuse, personal care, employment, and other services that may be identified in the Recovery Support Plan.
• Provides psychoeducation and trains family, unpaid caregivers, and/or others who have a legitimate role in addressing the needs of the individual.
• Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions, as evidenced by symptom reduction and progress toward goals.
• Provides direct interventions in deescalating situations to prevent crisis.
• Documents all services provided in the electronic medical record by using collaborative documentation.
