Community Support Specialist

Job Description

Plays a crucial role in supporting parents, as needed, in the community throughout the duration of the 2024 bond which is expected to be 2-3 years. Works with the Growth and Decline Liaison and building leaders by supporting DCSD families and community members directly and indirectly impacted by bond initiatives, including the pairing of schools in Highlands Ranch and the opening of new schools in Sterling Ranch and RidgeGate.

For the school pairing process, works with leaders and serves as a district-level contact for families, helping to ensure a maximum amount of support for those impacted, working proactively to address concerns.

Develops and promotes good community relations between district, families, and community members.

Hours will be variable, as needed.

General office equipment.

Requires travel around District using personal vehicle.

Essential Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting five (5) to ten (10) pounds.

Frequent sitting

Responsibilities

  • Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with families, community members, staff, school administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong relationships with families to foster trust and collaboration.

School Pairing Process

  • District Point of Contact: Serve as a contact for parents regarding the pairing process.
  • Issue Resolution: Help to anticipate and address challenges or conflicts related to the pairing process.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Skills

Verbal and written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions. Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Collaborative team player. Maintains a generally positive attitude. Observes all District policies and procedures.
