Job summary

Applied Counseling Consulting Services seeks a Direct Support Professional (Community Support) in Altoona, PA. This full-time position offers 32-35 hours per week with a schedule of Tue 9a-7p, Wed 9a-8p, Thu 9a-6p, and Fri 3p-8p, at a pay rate of $20-$23 per hour.

You will provide person-centered supports to adults with Autism and other IDD in home and community settings, collaborating with clinical staff to implement plans and promote independence.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Residents moving from outside PA may need FBI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support tailored to each individual’s needs and goals.
• Assist with activities of daily living (e.g., personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders).
• Support individuals in developing life skills, social skills, and community participation.
• Implement individualized support plans and behavior support strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.
• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of all individuals served.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and families.
• Respond promptly and professionally to changing needs or situations.
