Job summary

Ramey-Estep / Re-group is seeking a Community Support Associate to provide direct supervision and supportive services for elementary students in a short-term behavioral health program. You will reinforce therapeutic interventions and help maintain a safe, structured environment during the school day.

The role involves collaborating with clinicians and educational staff, implementing trauma-informed strategies, and documenting progress while ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children in behavioral health, school, or residential settings preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read, write and converse in English.

Function

The Community SupportAssociate(CSA) provides direct support to students within the Beacon Learning Center, a short-term, intensive behavioral health and educational program serving elementary-aged students with moderate to severe behavioral health needs. The CSA plays a vital role in supporting daily program operations, reinforcing therapeutic interventions, and maintaininga safe, structured, and supportive environment to promote student success and stabilization.

Organizational duties & responsibilities
  • The primary responsibility of all staff is to ensurethesafety and well-being of allRamey-Estep/Re-group (RE)clients.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of RE. Facilitatesand adheres to the agency’s code of ethics,policies,and procedures.
  • Supports all functions thatattainand maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Supports andfacilitatespositive interaction withclientsand staffbyexhibitingbothin-officeand in-public when carrying out job duties: individualmaturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and awareness and sensitivity to cultural and other differences inclientsand staff.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills,including proper use of agency communication systems.
  • Participate inappropriate professionaldevelopment programs toattainand maintain competency.
  • Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission of RE.
  • Reports incidents of abuse or potential abuse involvingclientsto theappropriate authoritiesand RE.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide continuous supervision and support to students throughout the therapeutic school day.
  • Assistinmaintaininga structured, safe, and therapeutic environment.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students to promote engagement and trust.
  • Reinforce behavioral expectations, coping skills, and social-emotional learning throughout daily activities.
  • Implement and support individualized behavioral interventions as directed by clinicaland educationalstaff.
  • Assiststudents in developing and practicing emotional regulation, coping strategies, and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide redirection and support during challenging behaviors using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Maintain active certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and implement approved de-escalation and intervention techniques.
  • Respond to behavioral crises in collaboration with clinicaland educationalstaff to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Participate in post-incident debriefings and follow all incident reporting protocols.
  • Support educational staff during academic instruction byassistingwith transitions, engagement, and behavior management.
  • Assistwith daily program activities, including check-in, group transitions, structured breaks, and dismissal routines.
  • Provide support services in the home or community setting whenappropriateand directed by the treatment team.
  • Assistfamilies in reinforcing behavioral strategies and skills learned in the program.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within establishedtimeframes(e.g., service notes, incident reports).
  • Communicate effectively with the treatment teamregardingstudent progress, concerns, and observations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Work collaboratively with clinicians, educators, case managers, and other team members.
  • Participate in team meetings,trainings, and program activities.
  • Support a positive team culture focused on quality care and student success.
  • Participatesin supervision regularly.
  • Promotes a positive view of RE to the public and outside agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Working conditions/environment
  • Shift isgenerally dayshift, Monday – Friday, 9-5.
  • Holidays, weekends, and extra hours may occasionally berequired.
  • Office setting with extensive computer usage.
  • Intense, unpredictable population with the possibility of verbal and physical aggression.
  • Fast-paced environment with the need for quick decisions to deal with any crisis that may arise.
  • Environmentis bothindoorandoutdoor.The environment is, at times, loud and stressful.
minimum job requirements
Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’sdegree inarelated field from an accredited schoolispreferred.

Experience

Experience working with children, preferably in behavioral health, school, or residential settings.

Experience supporting individuals with behavioral challenges preferred.

Specific Skills and requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Technical requirements includeproficiencywith Microsoft Word, Excel,PowerPoint, and any other applications used by the organization or regulatory agencies.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Must be able todemonstratea high degree of flexibility and be able to coordinate multiple priorities effectively.

Capability to effectively handle confidential datapromptly.

Mustbe abletointerface well withall departments in a highly professional manner.

Ability to understand and relate to the needs ofclientsfrom diverse backgrounds.

Ability to read, write and converse in English.

Successful completion ofapre-employmentdrug screen.

Successful completion ofa backgroundscreening.

Successful completion of a TB skin test or proof of a negative chest x-ray or other documentation.

Specialized Licenses or training

Successful completion of Excellent Foundations.

Maintain SCM certification.

Maintain40 hoursof annual training.
