Location: DOC Headquarters - Special Response Team (SRT) - North Little Rock

The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.

All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

Job Summary

The Community Supervision Manager is responsible for overseeing probation and parole officers, ensuring the effective supervision of individuals on community-based supervision, and promoting public safety and offender rehabilitation. This role involves case management oversight, policy enforcement, staff training, and collaboration with law enforcement, treatment providers, and the judicial system.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of probation and parole officers, ensuring compliance with state policies and legal standards.
  • Oversee case management activities, ensuring appropriate risk assessments, intervention plans, and supervision strategies.
  • Review officer reports, case notes, and supervision plans for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Monitor offender progress and ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions, treatment programs, and community service.
  • Ensure supervised individuals comply with conditions of release, restitution payments, and treatment mandates.
  • Direct and assist officers in handling violations, arrests, and referrals to court when necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, treatment providers, and the judiciary to promote successful reintegration.
  • Conduct field visits, inspections, and compliance checks as needed.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate probation and parole officers, ensuring adherence to professional standards and policies.
  • Provide guidance on effective supervision techniques, risk assessment, and conflict resolution.
  • Develop relationships with local service providers, community organizations, and law enforcement partners.
  • Coordinate with mental health, substance abuse, and vocational training programs to provide supportive resources for supervised individuals.
  • Maintain detailed supervisory records, case documentation, and compliance reports.
  • Ensure all officers comply with state policies, evidence-based practices, and agency guidelines.
  • Assist in budget planning, resource allocation, and program implementation.
  • Address grievances, conflicts, and disciplinary issues within the department.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, and guide a team of community supervision officers.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Understanding of Arkansas criminal justice laws, probation and parole procedures, and evidence-based supervision practices.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools, behavioral intervention strategies, and case management principles.
  • Ability to enforce court orders and conditions of community supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for report writing, presentations, and interagency coordination.
  • Ability to build relationships with offenders, law enforcement, legal professionals, and community stakeholders.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
  • Capacity to assess risks, identify needs, and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Ability to analyze reports, interpret legal documents, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage cases, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in high-stress situations, including emergency responses, arrests, and crisis interventions.
  • Flexible and adaptable to evolving policies, laws, and community corrections trends.
