Job summary

Clarvida is seeking a Substance Abuse Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in New Orleans, LA. This full-time role supports adults with severe mental illness who are also experiencing substance use challenges, delivering integrated, recovery‑oriented services directly in the community.

You will conduct assessments, provide counseling, coordinate care, and connect clients with community resources aligned with individualized treatment goals.

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana licensure in one of the following: LPC, LCSW, LPC‑S, LAC / LAC‑S, LMSW, PLPC, CIT.
• Minimum of two years of professional experience with individuals with serious mental illness.
• Valid State Driver’s License in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance use assessments and evaluations
• Deliver individual and family counseling services
• Provide case management services aligned with treatment plans
• Support clients with co‑occurring mental health and substance use disorders
• Link clients to community‑based resources
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary ACT team members
• Participate in rotating on‑call schedule (1 week every 6–8 weeks)
• Maintain clinical documentation
• Follow reporting regulations and crisis intervention protocols
