Job summary

Trailnet is seeking a Community Planning Manager in the St. Louis area to lead community-centered planning for safer walking, biking, and transit. You will engage residents, translate technical concepts, and manage a portfolio of multimodal projects from concept to completion.

The role emphasizes authentic community engagement, cross‑sector collaboration, and delivering actionable recommendations that advance Trailnet’s mission and equity goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with commensurate urban planning experience.
• Experience leading complex planning projects with Complete Streets components.
• AICP preferred.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for nontechnical audiences.
• Strong project management, organization, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with residents, community organizations, public agencies, consultants, and partners.
• Develop multimodal plans and recommendations supporting broader planning and advocacy.
• Translate technical planning concepts into accessible language for varied audiences.
• Lead and coordinate field investigations and data collection with staff and partners.
• Identify opportunities to advance Trailnet’s priorities through strategic projects.
