Job summary

Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy seeks a Community Stewardship and Engagement Member to support program planning, delivery and operations at park sites in the GGNRA. The role focuses on engaging diverse communities, coordinating volunteers, and contributing to stewardship and education initiatives at Fort Mason, SF.

The position runs 32 hours/week, Wed-Sat, with a living allowance of $640 per week. Requires driving, strong communication, and a passion for parks and equity in access to

Qualifications

• Interest in learning about national parks, love of the outdoors and curious about our local ecology, environmental issues, climate change; eager to learn and share information with others.
• Interest in building a safe environment for park visitors who may have little experience in the outdoors and who have faced systemic barriers to park access.
• Interest in developing public speaking and visitor engagement skills with emphasis on training, supervision, and leading groups and individuals in planned activities and programs.
• Energetic and self-motivated; ability to work independently once provided direction; willing to ask questions or for support.
• Good communication skills and respect for others.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple community programs weekly; assist with planning, content, organization, and facilitation.
• Programs include habitat restoration, nature walks, tabling events, story times, and community science activities.
• Develop and implement educational activities and interpretive materials.
• Assist with outreach materials and data tracking for programs.
• Participate in staff meetings and workshops; support in maintenance of native landscapes.
