Job summary

South Side YMCA in Chicago, IL seeks a Sports Program Director to lead and coordinate day-to-day sports programs, ensuring quality delivery and safety. You will recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers while maintaining records and scheduling resources for multiple program areas.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field and at least 2 years in recreation, with demonstrated leadership and a commitment to the YMCA mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of recreation experience; prior team leadership essential.
• Strong customer service orientation with youth, parents, and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in scheduling staff to ensure coverage, safety and quality program delivery.
• Develop program materials and distribute information to participants.
• Train and supervise new staff and volunteers; provide ongoing trainings.
• Conduct staff meetings and in-services as scheduled.
• Coordinate operation of assigned program areas and monitor budgets.
