City of Fort Collins is seeking a Community Service Officer (Full-Time Regular) to support the Police Patrol division at the Police Building in Fort Collins.

The position handles limited-commission, service-oriented duties and may involve traffic enforcement and accident response.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Investigates conditions, causes, and results of motor vehicle accidents.
  • Questions and records statements of principals and eye witnesses of accident.
  • Reviews all facts to determine if city or state statutes were violated.
  • Issues summons to violator of motor vehicle ordinance.
  • Files all facts, records, and information involved in case for possible use in legal actions.
  • Serves subpoenas and appears in court to testify in traffic violation and criminal cases.
  • Investigates “cold” crimes such as theft, burglary, and trespassing by collecting and logging evidence, filing reports, and processing crime scene.
  • Calls Police Officer in situations requiring arrest authority.
  • Investigates, tickets, and tows abandoned vehicles.
  • Directs and reroutes traffic around fire, congested areas, accident or disaster areas, or other disruptions.
  • Issues tickets to parking violators.
  • Provides fire and crime scene security.
  • Recovers and logs-in found property such as bicycles.
  • Must be able to render credible testimony in judicial and administrative proceedings.

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $73,021.00 - 99,385.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING SALARY: $73,021.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates High school diploma or GED.
