What do we need:

The Community Safety Coordinator supports and promotes the shelter operations and shelter’s security and safety infrastructure, engages stakeholders to identify and address safety needs, and empowers community members to safeguard each other through training and related support.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor CCTV and observe premises from the security desk; greet and check in guests and visitors in accordance with PSP protocols.
  • Partners with Community Safety Manager (CSM) for key training initiatives for PSP staff, security, and safety team members.
  • Partners with CSM to provide daily oversight, quality control and onboarding of new Security Officer.
  • Works collaboratively with CSM to create and implement plans to support guests with safety concerns and create a more progressive approach to the People Serving People’s security awareness.
  • Conduct bi-monthly audits of safety/first aid supplies.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulatory guidelines.
  • Partners with CSM to continuously evaluate the physical safety of the shelter facility and identify/resolve potential hazards.
  • Attends Guest Advisory Council no less than quarterly to solicit feedback on and respond to any shelter guest concerns regarding community safety. Provide regular safety information and resources to guests.
  • Conduct safety and security related investigations in partnership with the CSM, generated from PDL (Salesforce) entries.
  • Utilize and operate a CCTV system to support investigations and conduct audits.
  • Prepare written investigative reports for internal and/or external government agencies.
  • Works in collaboration with the Guest Services Department resolving guest related situations.
  • Partners with CSM to conduct annual review of Fire and weather-related emergencies with staff and security.
  • Required to act as a liaison between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and People Serving People.
  • Required to be a Mandated Reporter and work in partnership with Child Protective Services Investigators.
  • Ensure that all security procedures are followed by Standard Operating Procedures, or the POST orders provided to all Security Officers.
  • Ensure all visitors are escorted into People Serving People.
  • Resolves conflicts utilizing approved de-escalation tactics.
  • Trained to respond to all medical emergencies and activate emergency procedures.
  • Answers off-hour calls in the event of an emergency, responding when needed.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $27.50 /hourly
  • Full-Time, Sunday – Thursday, 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
