Job summary

Kensington Place Redwood City is seeking a part-time Kitchen/Dish Steward to support dining services and maintain sanitation in a senior living setting. The role involves cleaning kitchens and dining areas, operating dishwashing equipment, and assisting with food prep and storage, while following safety guidelines.

Qualifications include basic education, ability to work flexible hours (weekends/evenings), and a safe food handling certification.

Qualifications

• High School education or GED preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, rotating shifts, and occasional overtime.
• Certified in safe food handling.
• Must be free from pulmonary tuberculosis by health screening within 6 months prior or 7 days after employment.
• Criminal background cleared by DOJ and FBI via Live-Scan prior to initial presence in the facility.

Responsibilities

• Cleans kitchen and dining service area floors, hard surfaces, storage areas, fixtures, and equipment according to schedules.
• Prepares china, glass, silver, utensils, pots and pans, for cleaning by rinsing and pre-soaking.
• Operates dishwashing equipment and sinks to clean and sanitize wares and equipment.
• Tests dishwashing equipment and sinks for proper temperature and sanitizer levels.
• Transports and stores clean wares in proper storage areas.
• Disposes of wet garbage, trash, and cardboard to maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Attends training courses and participates in professional development as required.
• Reports any elder abuse, mistreatment, or neglect per policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Cleans kitchen and dining service area floors, hard surfaces, storage areas, fixtures, and equipment in accordance with all daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
2. Prepares china, glass, silver, utensils, pots and pans, and equipment for cleaning by rinsing and pre-soaking as appropriate.
3. Operates dishwashing equipment and 3-compartment sinks to properly clean and sanitize china, glass, silver, utensils, pots and pans, and equipment components.
4. Tests dishwashing equipment and 3- compartment sinks for proper operating temperature and levels of sanitizer in accordance with safe food handling guidelines.
5. Transports and stores clean small wares to their proper storage place.
6. Disposes of all wet garbage, trash, and cardboard boxes throughout the work shift in order to maintain a clean, uncluttered and safe work environment.
7. Assists with proper storage of all food and supply deliveries and break down and removal of resulting trash.
8. Attends training courses and participates in other professional development activities as required.
9. Report any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment or neglect as outlined in Personnel Policies.

Knowledge and Skill:

1. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
2. Ability to work effectively within a team based environment.

Qualifications

1. High School education or GED preferred, but not required
2. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, rotating shifts, and occasional overtime.
3. Certified in safe food handling.
4. Demonstrates freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis by a health screening performed by a physician not more than (6) months prior to or (7) days after employment
5. Must be criminally cleared by DOJ and FBI via the Live-Scan process prior to initial presence in the facility.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

1. Requires ability to stand and walk short distances for extended periods of time.
2. Must be able to lift 50 pounds to waist height and 40 lbs to shoulder height
3. Must be able to push 200 lbs. on a cart with casters
4. Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level
